Bunt Bull Shanghai

The Bund Bull of Shanghai aka Charging Bull
Was installed in late April of 2010 and was unveiled in May 15, 2010. Created by Antuo Di Modica, it is a 5000 pound piece of installment. The height of it is approximately 8 feet high and the length is about 10 feet long. This bull has been sculpted in a way that makes it look as if it is ready to charge a person at any moment. The mere presence of this bull is intimidating. Every muscle has been sculpted to look like an idealized bull. The scale of this bull has been sculpted to be so large to give it a larger than life feeling. The hue of it can mean a multitude of things. Red is one of China's colors. It is also a color of intimidation. But the intensity of the red is what is the most catching. The red is the color of blood. Just something I thought was interesting. Being in China it could possibly represent the blood of the people that has been put into making China what it is. The outer layer of the statue is smooth to the touch. The surface even though glossy is not a reflective surface. To create depth the artist has added highlights in different areas. The form of this structure is very bull like. In every way there is no mistaking this bull for anything other than a cow. The composition and  balance has been created by the horns and the tail. It equals the bull out. The slope of the bulls back is perpendicular with its tail.

Light Paintings

Light Paintings
These Light Paintings are done by Stephen Knapp. He has created a way to skillfully make light do as he wants! This skill has created a new dimension to art. The color schemes that are most common in his work are typically colors within the primary color wheel of light which are created through spectrum. The sizes of his work varies to the amount of space he has to work with. The one being shown is approximately 80 feet in height and extends forever. Or until it hits a wall. The thing is is that light bounces off of surfaces. Which is what is being seen here. Light is bouncing off of the mirrors that Knapp has skillfully placed throughout a single area. A sense of unity is being created by this use of light. It all is tied together and creates a balance. The light has in some way created a depth like feeling. As if one could walk through the walls as the lights have and go where the lights are ending. The feelings that are aroused in one is one of pure energy it is amazing to be surrounded by the light. The light has created line. It is unique you don't typically thing of line when thinking of light. But this pinpoint accuracy of the direction of light has been formed to manage that exact thing. The hues that are being made are what makes this piece all that much more stunning. To see this in real life would be breath taking. Knapp's uniqueness in using light is so amazing and makes you think about how he created it.

Fluz by Amber Conger

Flux
Flux was installed in November 2009 by a local Idaho artist named, Amber Conger. She created a sculpture crafted from copper and steel which she then formed into this beautiful non-representational shape! This organic sculpture from afar appears to be a backwards "3". But when the viewer gets closer to the sculpture they see that some of the panels aren't bolted on to the main sculpture and the appearance of the "3" appearance is quickly changed. This sculptures size and mass is something to marvel at. It's height is astonishing. Being approximately 7 feet high and weighing about a ton! It's not wonders that a piece like this is going for $4500. The sculpture is held together by fist size bolts and 2 feet long intimidating spikes. The Spikes are placed on the sculpture to prevent birds from landing on it but it also has been skillfully crafted to look as if it is part of the art work too. Being used to hold up some of the pieces away from the sculpture giving them a free floating appearance. The area it has been placed seems to complete this installment. The lake behind it seems to almost level out the harshness of this installment. This piece is currently located in McCall looking onto Lake Cascade. This piece also represents the area which can be beautiful and yet at other times it can have dangerous weather conditions. This sculpture has achieved the appearance of being able to reflect both of these. The way that the form has been created almost represents a wave like appearance.
